A method for calculating the optical power of an intraocular lens (IOL), comprising: determining a plurality of positions of the parts of the eye along the axis of the eye, said positions comprising the position of the cornea, the front position of the lens, the posterior position of the lens and the position of the retina; calculating the position of the IOL in accordance with the front position lens and posterior position of the lens; determining corneal data; calculation of the optical power of the IOL in accordance with the data on the cornea, the position of the IOL and the position of the retina. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein calculating the position of the IOL further comprises: calculating the position of the IOL in accordance with a predetermined proportional distance between the anterior position of the lens and the posterior position of the lens. 3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the calculation of the position of the IOL further comprises: calculating the position of the IOL in accordance with at least one IOL parameter. The method according to claim 1, wherein the calculation of the position of the IOL further comprises: calculating the position of the IOL in accordance with at least one eye parameter. The method of claim 1, wherein determining the positions further comprises: determining a refractive index of each segment for a plurality of segments of a specified axis to obtain a plurality of refractive indices; and adjusting at least one position in accordance with said refractive indices. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein determining the corneal data further comprises determining corneal data in accordance with the topography of said cornea.
