PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volatile space mildewproofing agent having a non-contact mildewproof effect by using vapor, excellent in odor quality and odor strength, and less in the residue of an odor which adhered to clothing or the like once, and a method for inhibiting generation of mildew using the same.SOLUTION: The problem is solved by a volatile space mildewproofing agent containing alicyclic aldehyde represented by the following formula (1) as an active component.
