The present invention relates to the prevention and treatment of diseasesassociated with undesirable cell proliferation, including atheroscleroticnarrowing of blood vessels and malignancy, comprising preventing or treatinginfection by mycoplasma. It is based, at least in part, on the discovery that,in many cases, mycoplasma infection exists coincident with undesirable cellproliferation and/or proliferation of other infectious organisms.
