PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for mental state estimation capable of rapidly and properly estimating a mental condition of a subject, and the like.SOLUTION: The device for mental state estimation includes: a feature vector generation means and an estimation means. The feature vector generation means generates spatio-temporal decomposition data in which index data that is time-series data reflecting biological information on the subject is decomposed in multiple hierarchies by base-function developing the index data calculates an information entropy for each of the spatio-temporal decomposition data selects a hierarchy that minimizes the calculated information entropy and generates a feature vector taking, when the selected hierarchy is the bottom layer, the appropriate information entropy as a component, or taking, when it is not the bottom layer, a value obtained by evenly developing the information entropy of the selected hierarchy to the bottom layer as the component.
