The invention relates to a method and a system for recording data that are generated when a manipulation event on animal (2) is performed by a human manipulator (10). Upon performing the manipulation event on the animal (2), the data are transmitted from a transmission apparatus (4) to a reception apparatus (3). A network comprising the transmission apparatus (4), the reception apparatus (3) and the animal (2) is set up for the transmission of the data, and the animal (2) is recognized on the basis of an identification code and the data are associated with the animal (2). As part of the data from the manipulation, the identity of the manipulator (10) is also captured. One of the problems with existing method and systems is ensuring that the medical manipulations on animals are well documented for reducing the complexity of the work. By capturing the identity of the manipulator (10), as part of the manipulation, the invention aims to ensure that the medical manipulations on animals are better documented thereby reducing the complexity of the work.
