An object of the present invention is to provide a composition having high biosafety and contributing to the activation of PGC-1α. Moreover, it aims at providing the use of the composition for activating PGC-1 (alpha), and the method of activating PGC-1 (alpha). It has been found that a specific compound has a PGC-1α activating action among compounds derived from natural products.
