Methods for delivering therapeutic agent(s) to the central nervous system totreat afirst CNS-related disease and/or condition while avoiding systemic exposureforpatients having a second concurrent non-CNS-related disease and/or conditionwherein the presence of the second disease and/or condition contraindicatessystemic administration of the therapeutic agent(s) and/or pharmaceuticalcompoundto treat the first disease or condition. The present invention provides theseadvantages by applying the therapeutic agent(s) and/or pharmaceuticalcomposition(s) to the upper third of the nasal cavity, thereby bypassing theblood-brainbarrier and administering the therapeutic agent(s) and/or pharmaceuticalcompound(s) directly to the CNS. This administration method thus protects themammalian patient, specifically the second non-CNS-related disease and/orcondition, by minimizing systemic exposure to the therapeutic agent(s) and/orpharmaceutical compound(s) administered to treat the first disease and/orconditionof the CNS.
