Use of a phosphorus-based material in preparation of a medicament for treating tumors. The phosphorus-based material comprises a material which is convertible to produce phosphate ions in an acidic environment, and the phosphorus-based material can change the intracellular environment and extracellular environment after being phagocytized by tumor cells and then being converted to produce a large amount of phosphate ions, thereby inhibiting proliferation of tumor cells and inducing death of tumor cells. This process has no significant effect on normal cell activities. By applying the phosphorus-based material to the preparation of a medicament for treating tumors in the manner as mentioned above, the amplification and metastasis of tumor cells can be effectively inhibited, thereby more effectively preventing the metastasis of the tumor cells and the recurrence of the tumor, improving the therapeutic effect of the tumor.
