The inner shaft is an elongate body having a distal tip configured to engage the head of a pedicle screw. The knob assembly includes a tubular body, wherein the inner shaft is disposed within the tubular body such that the inner shaft is free to rotate but not translate axially with respect to the tubular body. A distal end of the tubular body is also configured to engage a tulip of the pedicle screw. The knob assembly further includes a knob that is supported by the tubular body such that the knob is free to translate axially along the tubular body, but not rotate relative to it.
