The present invention relates to medical diagnostic instruments, such as a video endoscope, for use in human and veterinary medicine, one of the components of which, being susceptible to contact with biological tissues, can be made detachable and disposable. A detachable distal tip for a medical diagnostic instrument comprises a tubular portion situated on the distal portion of the tip, a functional head, and a coupling portion situated on the proximal portion of the tip and allowing the tip to be detachably coupled to a control assembly of the medical diagnostic instrument, wherein the coupling portion comprises at least two electrical contact elements arranged in a row and capable of contacting with corresponding contact elements of the control assembly when the tip is coupled to the control assembly, wherein each subsequent contact element in the longitudinal direction of the tip is offset relative to the preceding contact element in a radially inward direction on the coupling portion.
