The invention relates to a device for preparatory cutting of vine wood on vinestocks in wire-frame installations with cordon training, which consists of at least one component which is arranged movably on a tractor via a support frame and which consists of a number of rotationally driven catching baskets which are arranged one above another and in which a cutting system is in each case concentrically situated. The subject of the invention is characterised in that the drive of the cutting systems (12) takes place via a shaft (34) with associated motor (16), which is connected firmly to the systems and is guided centrally through the catching baskets (11), and in that the drive of the catching baskets (11) takes place via a motor (14) connected to one of the end-side catching baskets (11) as well as via connecting elements (51) which are fastened between the individual catching baskets (11) and mounted rotatably on the shaft (34).
