PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus that can prevent an imaging time from being greatly increased during a breath-hold period.SOLUTION: A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes an input-output device 72, magnetic field generators 32, 34 for generating a static magnetic field and a gradient magnetic field, a high frequency magnetic field pulse generating device 42, an image generation apparatus 62 for generating an image based on an NMR signal, and a control device 60. The control device 60 generates a first imaging sequence for controlling an imaging operation performed in a breath-hold period based on the imaging conditions, executes imaging according to the first imaging sequence generated, and stores imaging failure information for identifying the imaging when an imaging failure occurs upon execution of the imaging in accordance with the first imaging sequence.
