To provide known biologically active compounds that can be used for treatment of microbial infections.SOLUTION: The invention provides treatment of microbial infections using one or more compounds selected from among α-adrenergic antagonists, anthelmintic agents, antifungal agents, antimalarial agents, antineoplastic agents, antipsychotic agents, antioxidants, vasodilators and/or vitamins, or pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives thereof. Preferably, the use is for killing multiplying, non-multiplying or clinically latent microorganisms associated with the microbial infections.
