Cosmetic active ingredient (I) comprises peptides having a molecular weight of less than 2000 Da from Verbena officinalis. Independent claims are included for: (1) process for obtaining (I) comprising: solubilization of powder of aerial parts of Verbena officinalisin water； enzymatic hydrolysis in the presence of at least one enzyme； separation of soluble and insoluble phases by decantation； inactivation by heat treatment； filtration； concentration of the active fraction； and sterilization filtration； and (2) cosmetic composition for topical application, comprising (I) (0.01-20 wt.%). ACTIVITY : Dermatological. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Alpha 2 beta 1 integrin synthesis stimulator； Collagen I synthesis stimulator； Collagen III synthesis stimulator； Fibrillin-1 synthesis stimulator. The ability of (I) to stimulate collagen I synthesis was tested in normal human fibroblast. The result showed that the collagen I synthesis was 2091 pg/mu g protein at 2%.
