Disclosed is a use of a polypeptide or cosmetic composition in the manufacture of a medicament for improving the cosmetic appearance of aged or scarred skin of a mammalian animal wherein: (i) the polypeptide comprises an amino acid sequence as set forth in any one of SEQ ID Nos. 1-4 or a sequence which is at least 90% identical to the sequence, or a portion of any of the sequences, wherein the portion comprises at least 200 amino acids and is at least 90% identical to a comparable region of an amino acid sequence as set forth in any one of SEQ ID Nos. 1-4, wherein the sequences are as disclosed in the specification, and (ii) the cosmetic composition comprises (i) and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients and/or diluents.
