The invention relates to a footwear item comprising a biocidal product, having a sole and an upper, and comprising a biocidal product composition located in a part of the footwear item selected from the sole and an insole. According to the invention, with each step the pressure of the users foot releases a portion of the biocidal product located in the region of the footwear item, said biocidal product acting as an effective and efficient insect repellent.
