PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope equipped with a bending mechanism capable of efficiently bending a bending part with respect to a pulling amount of a pulling member by an operation part without making the operation part large.
SOLUTION: The endoscope is provided with the bending mechanism for actively bending the bending part and the bending mechanism is provided with a rotating body 36 rotatable around an axial body, a pulling member 32 in which a middle part 32a is wound around an outer peripheral part 36b of the rotating body 36 and a tip part 32c is joined to the bending part, and the operation part for allowing the rotating body 36 to rotate up to a maximum rotation angle &theta from an initial state by pulling a base end part 32a of the pulling member 32. A winding completion position B of the pulling member 32 is positioned on the bending part side in an initial state with respect to a reference line L going through the axial body almost at right angles to a disposition direction on the tip part 32c of the pulling member 32, and is set movable up to an opposite side to the bending part accompanying rotation of the rotating body 36 by the operation part.
