摘要:
The seizure of an epileptic person is unexpected in terms of time and place. This underlines the importance of having people such as the parents, relatives, or friends to be with the patient in case of the attack. However, the absence of these people is inevitable. In solution to this, the study proposed a device that can keep the connection between the epileptic person and the contact people in times of sudden seizures. Particularly, this was intended to help people with epilepsy and the family/relatives to stay notified when something happens to the patient. The system was analyzed and designed as a sensor-based glove that will detect and monitor the epileptic seizure in patients. Epileptic seizure was automatically detected by the use of accelerometer to sense sudden abnormal movements and GPS module for the tracking of location. The researchers gathered information using survey questionnaire and also conducted an interview to a doctor knowledgeable in epilepsy. The system has an acceptable interpretation for the functionality, reliability, efficiency, and usability with the total mean of 3.69 garnered from the medical professionals and 4.30 from the IT professionals. Also, the researchers test the accuracy of the system by experimentation. The results showed that the overall accuracy was 86.67 pcnt rate by the medical professionals and 89.17 pcnt rate by the IT professionals.
