An isolated nucleic acid agent is disclosed comprising a nucleic acid sequence which downregulates expression of a gene product of a Varroa destructor mite. The nucleic acid agents may have a sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NOs: 93-106. Compositions comprising same and uses thereof are also disclosed. Also disclosed is a method of bidirectional transmission of at least one dsRNA, comprising providing said at least one dsRNA to a second honeybee via a Varroa mite, wherein said Varroa mite receives said at least one dsRNA from a first honeybee.
