The invention provides a method for advancing the yield of a banana plant which includes applying a growth hormone to the plant prior to bell emergence of the banana plant, preferably about 6-12 leaves before bell emergence. This is contrary to conventional thinking which is to apply the growth hormone to formed mature or immature banana fingers, after the bell emerges. A preferred growth hormone is a gibberellin, which may be applied by liquid spraying, liquid injection or insertion of a capsule or pellet containing the growth hormone into the plant. An additional plant growth retardant may also be applied in conjunction with the growth hormone. A computer-aided management scheme and a specific configuration of implement to implant a capsule or pellet into a banana plant are also disclosed.La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant daméliorer le rendement dun bananier.
