The two-part disinfecting system contains a first part and a second part adapted to be mixed to yield an aqueous acidic disinfecting composition, wherein the first part comprises a chlorite and the second part comprises an acid, and wherein the first part, the second part, or both the first and second parts further comprise a nitrogenous stabilizer having a nitrogen group substituted with at least one hydrogen.
