Described herein is a method of identifying a monoclonal antibody (or antigen- binding fragment thereof) that specifically binds a plurality of lyssaviruses for use in post-exposure rabies prophylaxis or in the treatment of clinical rabies. The method includes using a naive antibody phage display library to screen for phage clones that bind whole recombinant rabies virus or cells expressing glycoprotein from multiple lyssaviruses (such as RABV, MOKV and WCBV) and/or specifically bind recombinant glycoprotein from different lyssaviruses.Le procédé ci-décrit permet d'identifier un anticorps monoclonal (ou un fragment de celui-ci se liant à l'antigène) qui se lie spécifiquement à une pluralité de lyssavirus, destiné à être utilisé à titre prophylactique après une exposition à la rage ou à titre thérapeutique pour traiter la rage clinique. Le procédé comprend l'utilisation d'une banque d'anticorps naïfs présentés sur phages pour identifier par criblage les clones phagiques qui se lient au virus entier, recombinant, de la rage ou à des cellules exprimant la glycoprotéine provenant de multiples lyssavirus (tels que RABV, MOKV et WCBV) et/ou qui se lient spécifiquement à la glycoprotéine recombinante provenant de lyssavirus différents.
