A system for generating a thoracocardiograph signal. The system comprises afirstdigitizer for converting a first signal generated by an inductiveplethysmographic sensor to adigitized first signal. The system also comprises a first digital filter fortransforming the digitizedfirst signal into a first filtered signal, a lower corner frequency of thefirst filter beingdynamically adjusted based on a heart rate. The system further comprises asecond digital filterfor transforming the first filtered signal into a thoracocardiograph signal.The second filter ischaracterized by averaging segments of the first filtered signal based onevents characteristic ofthe cardiac cycles. Optionally, the system may further comprise aelectrocardiograph fordetermining the heart rate and for providing indicia of events characteristicof the cardiac cycles.
