PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a cause of a change in the layer structure of a retina to be specified from tomographic images of the retina.SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus processing a plurality of the tomographic images obtained by acquiring a plurality of the tomographic images including cross sections along the thickness direction of the retina along the direction crossing the cross sections at right angles, detects the boundary position of a prescribed layer in the retina on the basis of image information of lines along the thickness direction of the tomographic images, adds false image attributes showing the presence of a false image to the lines for which the boundary of the prescribed layer cannot be detected and adds false image attributes showing the nonpresence of the false image to other lines. The apparatus maps the false image attributes of each line of a plurality of tomographic images on a plane crossing the thickness direction at right angles, and decides about the kind of the false image on the basis of the size or the shape of the false image area on which the false image attributes showing the presence of the false image are mapped in the plane.COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT【課題】網膜の断層像から網膜層構造を変化させている原因を特定できるようにする。【解決手段】網膜の厚み方向に沿った断面を含む断層像を、前記断面に直交する方向に沿って複数取得することにより得られた複数の断層像を処理する画像処理装置は、断層像の厚み方向に沿ったラインの画像情報に基づいて、網膜内の所定層の境界位置を検出し、所定層の境界を検出できなかったラインに対しては偽像が存在することを示す偽像属性を付与し、他のラインに対しては偽像が存在しないことを示す偽像属性を付与する。そして、複数の断層像の各ラインの偽像属性を、厚み方向に直交する平面に写像し、当該平面において、偽像が存在することを示す偽像属性が写像されている偽像領域の大きさまたは形状に基づいて、当該偽像の種類を判定する。【選択図】 図1
