A method of treating or preventing a disorder using a fertilized egg isolate, wherein said disorder is selected from the group consisting of depressive affective disorders and anxiety disorders, and said method comprises the step of administering a therapeutically effective amount of a fertilized egg isolate to a patient in need thereof. ! 2. The method according to claim 1, where the isolate of the fertilized eggs contains a lyophilized embryo, ovalbumin and a clean yolk sac from the fertilized egg. ! 3. The method according to claim 1, where the fertilized egg isolate is an aqueous isolate obtained by the method comprising the steps of (i) essentially separating from the shell the contents of at least one fertilized egg； (ii) optionally filtering the contents to obtain a retentate； (iii) combining the contents or retentate in the container； (iv) mixing, optionally with the addition of a solvent, contents or retentate to form a suspension； (v) mixing the suspension with an aqueous solution for a period of time； (vi) purification of the mixture to obtain an aqueous solution essentially free of solid material； (vii) separating the aqueous solution from the solid material； (viii) freezing an aqueous solution； and (ix) lyophilization of the aqueous solution to obtain a fertilized egg isolate. ! 6.
