PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope capable of reducing man-hours for grip part detachment, and eliminating the need of wiping off and re-coating grease coated on a component for operating a mechanism for varying hardness.
SOLUTION: The endoscope 30 includes: an insertion part 31 having the mechanism 54 for varying hardness an operation part 32 composed of a grip part 40 and an operation casing 39 and having an operation part frame body 62 a ring 51 for varying hardness held between a breaking prevention unit 38 and the grip part 40, for operating the mechanism 54 for varying hardness by engaging a cam ring 72 coming into peripheral contact with the frame body 62 on the inner peripheral surface, rotating the cam ring 72 by a turning operation, and moving a moving ring 75 in peripheral contact inside the frame body 62 and a grip ring 74 for holding the grip part 40 arranged in the frame body 62. The inner diameters of the through-hole 51b of the hardness varying ring 51 and the grip ring 74 are formed to be larger than that of the unit 38, and the frame body 62 is formed into a stepped shape having an operation part body part 64 and a hardness varying body part 63 whose diameter is narrower than that.
