The invention relates to combinations of metformin or related biguanides such as phenformin, buformin or proguanil, with particular metformin sensitizing compounds that have the capability to sensitize rapidly proliferating cells to metformin or related biguanides in such a way that combinations cause cell lethality at concentrations where neither metformin alone nor such metformin sensitizing compounds alone exert appreciable cell lethality. The invention further relates to the use of such combinations in the treatment of cancer and for achieving immunosuppression.Linvention concerne des combinaisons de metformine ou de biguanines apparentées, telles que phenformine, buformine ou proguanil, avec des composés particuliers sensibles à la metformine qui ont la capacité de sensibiliser rapidement des cellules en prolifération à la metformine ou à des biguanines apparentées dune manière telle que les combinaisons provoquent une létalité cellulaire à des concentrations où ni la metformine seule ni de tels composés sensibles à le metformine seuls nexercent une létalité cellulaire appréciable. Linvention concerne en outre lutilisation de telles combinaisons dans le traitement du cancer et pour obtenir une immunosuppression.
