This invention provides a compound which thickens or gels a flowable organic substance to a desired viscosity or uniformly stabilizes a composition containing a flowable organic substance. A compound of the present invention is represented by the following formula (1). In the formula, R1 represents a group obtained by removing four hydrogen atoms from the structural formula of benzene, cyclohexane, butane, benzophenone, biphenyl, or naphthalene, and R2 represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 4 or more carbon atoms. n represents an integer of 1 to 3. When n is 2 or 3, 2 or 3 R2's may be the same or different.
