PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing method capable of detecting a mucous membrane with a changed property to be a detected object including even a case that the shape of a boundary itself has characteristic.
SOLUTION: A source image is acquired, a mucous membrane boundary with the possibility of a different property is detected by an edge detection processing or the like in a step S2, and the refraction point in a step S5 in the shape of the mucous membrane boundary is detected further. Further, depending on whether or not the refraction point satisfies a prescribed condition, a control point to be the representative point of the refraction point is set, and whether or not it is a Barretts boundary as the boundary of the mucous membrane with changed property is detected (judged) on the basis of the control point.
