More specifically, the present invention relates to the pharmaceutical composition or the food composition for treating or preventing alcoholic liver disease, which exhibits the effect of preventing or treating alcoholic liver disease by inhibiting the activity of STAT3 by binding to STAT3, thereby inhibiting inflammatory cytokine production and inhibiting oxidative stress caused by ROS.본 발명은 알코올성 간 질환의 치료, 예방 및 완화 효과가 있는 아스타잔틴(Astaxantin； ASX, 3,3'-dihydroxy-β, β'-carotene-4,4'-dione)을 유효 성분으로 포함하는 알코올성 간 질환의 치료 또는 예방용 약학적 조성물 또는 식품 조성물에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 STAT3에 결합하여 STAT3의 활성을 저해시킴으로써 염증성 싸이토카인 생성 억제 및 ROS로 인한 산화적 스트레스를 억제하여 알코올성 간 질환에 대해 예방 또는 치료 효과를 나타내는 알코올성 간 질환의 치료 또는 예방용 약학적 조성물 또는 식품 조성물에 관한 것이다.
