The osteogenesis promoting material of the present invention includes a self-assembling peptide and a bone fragment capable of forming a -sheet structure in a neutral pH aqueous solution. The total charge of the amino acid residues constituting this self-assembling peptide at pH 7.0 is not 0.生体安全性が高く、骨形成を促進し得る骨形成促進材を提供すること。本発明の骨形成促進材は、中性pHの水溶液中でβシート構造を形成し得る自己組織化ペプチドおよび骨片を含む。この自己組織化ペプチドを構成するアミノ酸残基のpH7.0における電荷の総和が0ではない。
