An buffered aqueous contact lens disinfecting solution having much lowerconcentration of disinfecting agents, and less irritating to the eye. Thesolutions have a tonicity of 200 to 450 mOsm/kg, a pH of between 6 and 8, anda concentration of chloride ions below 1500 ppm. Despite having less than 1ppm of antimicrobial, the solutions are effective against C. albicans within15 minutes of contact.
