The present invention refers to the biocontrol of coffee borer beetle Hypothenemus hampei Ferr. Using a native strain from the beauveria bassiana(Bals.) Vuill. fungus, which was isolated from fruits infested by coffee borer beetle and these infected by the fungus. The fungus was isolated and obtained in a pure culture in laboratory following the Koch Principles where the concentration of conidia, virulence, pathogenicity and purity of the Beauveria bassiana fungus was determined. Field applications were subsequently performed for establishing the doses, frequency, period, water pH and the effect of factors contributing in the control of the coffee bore beetle Hypothenemus hampei Ferr.La presente invención se refiere al biocontrol de la broca del café Hypothenemus hampei Ferr. Con una cepa nativa del hongo beauveria bassiana(Bals.) Vuill., el cual fue aislado de frutos infestados por la broca del café y estos infectados por el hongo. El hongo fue aislado y obtenido en cultivo puro en laboratorio siguiendo los Postulados de Koch en donde se determinó la concentración de conidios, virulencia, patogenicidad y pureza del hongo Beauveria bassiana. Posteriormente se realizaron aplicaciones en campo para establecer la dosis, frecuencia, época, pH del agua y el efecto de coadyuvantes en el control de la broca del café Hypothenemus hampei Ferr.
