PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heat a shelf material as desired, and to shorten a drying time by promoting drying in a drying step after steam sterilization.SOLUTION: A steam sterilization apparatus 1 accommodates and sterilizes an object to be sterilized in a sterilization tank 2 with steam. A shelf material 14 on which the object to be sterilized is placed is installed in the sterilization tank 2 or installed in a carriage 4 moving into and out from the sterilization tank 2. The outside or inside of the sterilization tank 2 is provided with a heating means for heating the shelf material 14.
