Esta maniobra se realiza cada vez que se produce una aportación de subproductos a la tolva, de forma dosificada y en el vértice del cono y/o superficie del subproducto almacenado en la tolva de espera, configurado por el apilamiento de subproductos. Además el almacenaje se realiza sin pérdida de lixiviados, utilizando para ello una tolva estanca. Se consigue de esta manera potenciar al máximo la eficacia de los conservantes.
