The present invention relates to a novel use of a thistle root extract, and more particularly, to a composition containing as an active ingredient a thistle root ethanol extract for preventing and treating leukemia, and to a functional food which including a food supplementary additive, which is acceptable from a nutritional science perspective, for preventing leukemia.
