The present invention relates to a composition for treating and preventing diseases caused by heavy metal poisoning, which contains an extract of Dendropanax morbifera Lev. as an active ingredient. More specifically, the extract of the present invention is tested for the function of removing reactive oxygen species caused by heavy metals such as cadmium, lead and mercury with regard to malondialdhyde (MDA), Cn-Zn superoxide dismutase, and catalase activity. The result of the test confirms that the extract strongly inhibits the activity thereof; significantly decreases an expression of genes related to detoxication of heavy metals such as GSTP1 and metallothioneins in cells having toxicity caused by arsenic-based, lead-based, and cadmium-based complexes and also, an expression of genes such as interleukin cytokine and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) related to an oxidative stress of cells and survival thereof; and exhibits an excellent excretion of heavy metals in blood as a result of checking the level of excretion of male Sprague-Dawley rats injected with heavy metals. Accordingly, the composition is useful as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating diseases caused by heavy metal poisoning and as a health functional food given the confirmation that the extract of Dendropanax morbifera Lev. exhibits an excellent excretion effect of heavy metals.본 발명은 황칠나무 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 중금속 중독으로 인한 질환의 치료 및 예방을 위한 조성물에 관한 것으로, 상세하게는 본 발명의 추출물은 카드뮴, 납, 수은 등의 중금속에 의해 유래된 활성산소종의 제거 효능을 MDA(malondialdhyde) 수준, Cu,Zn-수퍼옥시드 디스무타제(superoxide dismutase), 카탈라제 활성(catalase activity)을 실험한 결과, 이들의 활성을 강력하게 저해함을 확인하고 비소계, 납계, 카드늄계 착화물에 의해 독성이 유발된 cell 에서 GSTP1, 메탈로티오네인(metallothioneins) 등의 중금속 해독관련 유전자와 세포의 산화적 스트레스 및 생존에 관련된 인터류킨 시토킨(interleukin cytokine) 및 MAPK(mitogen-activated protein kinase)s 등의 유전자 발현을 현저하게 감소시킴을 확인하고 중금속을 투여한 수컷 Sprague-Dawley 랫트를 대상으로 혈중 중금속의 배출정도를 확인한 결과, 중금속 배설효과가 탁월함을 확인하여 황칠나무 추출물의 중금속 배출효과가 탁월함을 확인하여 중금속 중독으로 인한 질환의 예방 및 치료용 약학조성물 또는 건강기능
