The invention relates to the field of the treatment of plant material, particularly plant material for propagation or reproduction, for example seeds. The method according to the invention comprises the application, over all or part of the surface of a plant material, of an aqueous dispersion comprising (a) particles of at least one hydroswellable polymer and (b) at least one compound selected from a mineral salt, an organic salt, a dispersant organic polymer and the mixtures thereof. The invention also relates to said treated plant material and to the use thereof for cultivating or producing a plant.Linvention concerne le domaine du traitement de matériel végétal, en particulier du matériel végétal de propagation ou de reproduction, par exemple des semences. Le procédé selon linvention comprend lapplication sur tout ou partie de la surface dun matériel végétal dune dispersion aqueuse comprenant (a) des particules dau moins un polymère hydrogonflable et (b) au moins un composé choisi parmi un sel minéral, un sel organique, un polymère organique dispersant et leurs mélanges. Linvention concerne également ce matériel végétal traité ainsi que son utilisation pour la culture ou pour la production dune plante.
