A method of providing a cosmetic and/or therapeutic benefit to a mammalian body surface (such as human skin) includes the steps of adhering a multilayered, thin, flexible article to an application site on a mammalian body； maintaining the article in place, and removing the article from the application site by application of water to the article. The article has a thickness of up to about 2 mm and comprises a top non-tacky layer and a bottom self-adhesive layer, and the bottom self-adhesive layer includes a benefiting agent.
