Disclosed is a topical opaque emulsion-gel which comprises (a) diclofenac diethylammonium salt, (b) saturated or unsaturated C10-C18 fatty alcohol selected from the group consisting of stearyl alcohol, myristyl alcohol, lauryl alcohol and oleyl alcohol, (c) water, (d) at least one C2-C4 alkanol, (e) at least one glycol solvent selected from the group consisting of 1,2-propanediol and polyethylene glycol, (f) at least one gelling agent selected from the group consisting of carbomers, (g at least one liquid lipid forming the oily phase of the emulsion-gel, (h) at least one non-ionic surfactant, and (i) a basic agent to adjust the pH of the total composition to 6-9.
