PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus for allowing time phase information on a cardiac cycle to be obtained without acquiring an ECG (electrocardiogram) signal from a subject.SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes an electrocardiogram information acquisition means and an image data generation means. The electrocardiogram information acquisition means collects magnetic resonance signals for estimating an ECG signal of the subject in synchronization with a biological signal representing pulse other than the ECG signal acquired from the subject and obtains difference in time between a position of a reference wave of the ECG signal estimated from the collected magnetic resonance signals and a synchronization position of the biological signal.
