PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of reducing artifacts in images caused by breathing motions while avoiding large-scale prolongation of imaging time in imaging a portion with breathing motions such as an abdomen.SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus has motion detection means and imaging means. The motion detection means acquires a first NMR signal for acquiring information indicating breathing motions of an analyte, and acquires the information indicating breathing motions as information including a shift amount of a location of absolute value image data imaging the signal strength of a first NMR signal and a shift amount of a phase of phase image data imaging the phase of the first NMR signal. The imaging means generates MR image data by MR imaging including acquisition of a second NMR signal as imaging data from the analyte, motion correction based on the information indicating breathing motions and imaging processing for the second NMR signal.
