PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation of acoustic properties involved in vibration of a transducer element.SOLUTION: A transducer element 1 vibrates to transmit and receive an ultrasonic wave. A buffer layer 5 is provided on the back side of the transducer element 1. A backing material 6 is provided on the back side of the buffer layer 5 and damps an ultrasonic wave from the transducer element 1.
