PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an improved understanding of the function of these materials in physiology as well as the isolation of bioactive agents that can serve to eliminate or diminish various disease states or conditions.SOLUTION: The present invention generally relates to novel isolated therapeutic agents, termed resolvins, generated from a dietary omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) or docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), cyclooxygenase-II (COX-2) and an analgesic, such as aspirin (ASA). Surprisingly, careful isolation of compounds generated from the combination of components in an appropriate environment provides di- and tri-hydroxy EPA or DHA compounds having unique structural and physiological properties.【課題】生理学におけるこれらの物質の機能の理解の改善、ならびに、種々の疾患状態もしくは条件を排除または減少するように機能し得る生物活性薬剤の単離すること。【解決手段】本発明は、一般に、レソルビンと呼ばれる単離した新規治療薬に関し、これは、食用オメガ－３多価不飽和脂肪酸（ＰＵＦＡ）（例えば、エイコサペンタエン酸（ＥＰＡ）またはドコサヘキサエン酸（ＤＨＡ））、シクロオキシゲナーゼ－ＩＩ（ＣＯＸ－２）および鎮痛薬（例えば、アスピリン（ＡＳＡ））から生成される。驚くべきことに、適当な環境にて、成分の組合せから生成された化合物を注意深く単離すると、独特の構造特性および生理学的特性を有するジ－およびトリ－ヒドロキシＥＰＡまたはＤＨＡ化合物が得られる。【選択図】なし
