PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the starting method of a biological treatment apparatus capable of performing treatment with high biological activity immediately after the rising of the biological treatment apparatus and a biological treatment method. SOLUTION: When the biological treatment apparatus is newly started, a raw water microbial analyzing process for collecting a microorganism group in raw water or the propagated matter thereof is sampled as a sample and analyzing the microorganism group structure of the sample on the basis of DNA, a seed microorganism analyzing process using the microorganism group sampled for other biological, treatment apparatus or the preserved matter thereof as a sample and analyzing the microorganism group structure of the sample on the basis of DNA and a selection process for comparing the analyzed data of the raw water microbial analyzing process with the analyzed data of the seed microorganism analyzing process to select the analyzed data approximate to the analyzed data in the raw water microorganism analyzing method are included. The microorganism group becoming the sample of the analyzed data selected in the selection process or the preserved matter thereof is utilized as the seed microorganism of the newly started biological treatment apparatus to start the biological treatment apparatus to perform biological treatment apparatus to perform biological treatment.
