An embodiment of the present invention provides a composition for preventing, treating, or improving melanoma containing an extract of Cordyceps sinensis or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient. In particular, Cordyceps sinensis extract or fractions thereof according to an embodiment of the present invention contains codycepin, and exhibits anti-cancer effects against melanoma through apoptosis of melanoma cells. More specifically, the anti-cancer effect on melanoma can be obtained by inducing the death of melanoma cells through suppression of Survivin protein expression, regardless of genetic variation.본 발명의 일실시예는 동충하초 추출물 또는 이의 분획물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 흑색종 예방, 치료용 조성물 또는 개선용 식품조성물을 제공한다. 특히, 본 발명의 일실시예에 따른 동충하초 추출물 또는 이의 분획물은 코디세핀을 포함하며, 흑색종 세포의 사멸(apoptosis)를 통해서 흑색종에 대한 항암효과를 나타낸다. 보다 구체적으로, 이러한 흑색종에 대한 항암효과는 유전적 변이에 상관없이, 서바이빈(Survivin) 단백질 발현의 억제를 통해 흑색종 세포의 사멸을 유도함으로써 얻을 수 있다.
