The present invention relates to: an extract of an Aloe vera effective for preventing and treating skin aging and a cosmetic composition and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same as an active ingredient for preventing and treating skin aging. According to the present invention, the extract limits a level of MMP-1, MMP-3, and IL-6 and increase a level of type I procollagen and TGF-&beta1 in normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDF) after the DHDFs are irradiated with UV rays.
