PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an AEC (Automatic Exposure Control) function of an X-ray image detection device utilizing an image detection unit without remodeling a radiation generation device.SOLUTION: A signal relay device 15 includes: a first connection I/F 50 connected with a switch I/F 31 of an X-ray source controller 11 a second connection I/F 51 connected with an irradiation switch 12 a third connection I/F 52 connected with an irradiation signal I/F 39 of an electronic cassette 13 and a signal processing unit 62. An AND circuit 68 of the signal processing unit 62 gets AND between an irradiation instruction signal S2 from the irradiation switch 12 and an ON signal S5 outputted while an irradiation permission signal S4 is inputted from the electronic cassette 13. When the AND is true, the AND circuit 68 outputs a pseudo signal S6 having the same form as the irradiation instruction signal S2.
