The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a Cimicifuga dahurica extract or a compound isolated therefrom as an effective ingredient for prevention or treatment of degenerative brain disease, a method for prevention or treatment of degenerative brain disease by using the pharmaceutical composition, and a food composition and an animal feed composition for prevention or alleviation of degenerative brain disease. A Cimicifuga dahurica extract or a compound isolated therefrom according to the present invention is characterized by specifically increasing an amount of a protein involved in autophagy. In detail, the Cimicifuga dahurica extract or the compound isolated therefrom upregulates the expression of LC3 protein, which is a membrane protein of autophagosomes, exhibits an superior effect of downregulating the expression of mTOR protein inhibitory of autophagy, and furthermore has an excellent effect of suppressing the production of beta-amyloid, which is a dementia-causing material, and the impairment of memory, thus finding effective applications in treating degenerative brain disease, such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia, and alleviating cognitive impairment.La présente invention concerne une composition pharmaceutique comprenant un extrait de Cimicifuga dahurica ou une fraction de ce dernier en tant que principe actif pour la prévention ou le traitement de maladies dégénératives du cerveau, une méthode de prévention ou de traitement de maladies dégénératives du cerveau à l'aide de la composition pharmaceutique, et une composition alimentaire et une composition d'aliment pour animaux pour la prévention ou le soulagement de maladies dégénératives du cerveau.
