PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide topical enzymatic wound debriding compositions with enhanced enzymatic activity.SOLUTION: The wound debriding composition comprises: (a) a dispersed phase comprising a liquid hydrophilic polyol and at least one proteolytic enzyme； and (b) a continuous phase comprising a hydrophobic base, where the amount of the liquid hydrophilic polyol is within ±10% w/w of the optimum amount of the liquid hydrophilic polyol. In certain embodiments of the composition, the proteolytic enzyme is a metalloprotease, and the liquid hydrophilic polyol is a liquid polyethylene glycol or liquid poloxamer.
